According to an article by CarsonNow.org, an evaluation of the Nevada education program has been earning positive results. It recommended that continued funding of all 7 categorical education programs will be a major priority of the county. This statement recognizes that in order for our education to improve, we need to add more funding to some essential programs. With the proper steps being taken to support specific programs, students, family, and educators will all start to benefit from the changes. The Benefits of Corporate Housing vs. Hotels

Traveling to a new city starts with deciding on where you’ll stay. Often times, it seems like hotels are the only option. In comes corporate housing. While hotels are the standard for short term travel, corporate housing is designed as a home-away-from-home for the employee looking for an extended stay. So how are the two different? Check out our list of the major differences between hotels and corporate housing.

Living Space

Often times a hotel room feels like just that – a room. The average hotel room is less than 400 square feet, which is hardly enough size to feel like a temporary home. On average, the square footage of a typical corporate housing unit is double that. Corporate housing gives you the space to stretch out and relax at the end of a hard day.

When staying in corporate housing, you won’t be coming home to a single stuffy room. A standard unit usually contains a bedroom, living room, kitchen, and a washer-dryer closet.  Some corporate stays may even have the option for an office or additional bedrooms for family as well.

[siteorigin_widget class="WP_Widget_Media_Image"][/siteorigin_widget]

Kitchen

When you’re traveling for extended periods, eating out can be expensive and unhealthy. Hotels typically don’t have a kitchen, and if they do, they aren’t full size. This makes cooking nearly impossible in hotels. When you stay in corporate housing, you won’t have to sacrifice your diet or your dollars when you’re hungry. Corporate housing comes equipped with a complete kitchen, utensils, and space to stock up on food – just like you would at home.

Price

While hotels can be convenient for a night or two, the truth is the average hotel rates add up fast! The average daily rate for a hotel is between $75 – $195, which doesn’t include the hidden fees hotels typically sneak in for items such as Wi-Fi and housekeeping. Corporate housing companies like Stay with CHC provide a breadth of communities for every budget with options ranging from luxury stay to economically-friendly, with no hidden fees.

It’s also important to consider additional costs when staying in a hotel. Without the in-unit washer and dryer found in corporate houses, you’ll have to pay extra money at a laundromat to clean your clothes. Similarly, without a kitchen, you’ll most likely be opting to eat out, which will also add up.

[siteorigin_widget class="WP_Widget_Media_Image"][/siteorigin_widget]

Location

When choosing a place for your extended stay, you look at price, amenities, and features, but rarely location. With hotels, you never have many options. Most hotels are typically located near high-traffic areas or noisy freeways. Each day in a hotel will feel more and more like an extended work trip, and less like temporary living.

On the other hand, corporate houses are located all over a city, giving you the option to choose a location that fits your needs. If you want a sense of normalcy, then choose a corporate house located in a quiet residential area or suburban neighborhood. Or, if you want to stay in the heart of downtown and experience the culture of the city you’re staying in, you can. Either way you stay, you’ll feel like a local and part of the community.

Amenities

When staying somewhere new for an extended period of time, you won’t want to miss out on your usual activities. Staying at a hotel can often force you to sacrifice your daily habits and routines. At best, hotels may have a subpar pool and a “gym” that’s too small to get a good workout in. Corporate housing communities often feature a plethora of amenities at no extra charge to make your stay more comfortable and ensure you can continue your daily routines. Here are amenities you may find a typical corporate house versus a typical hotel.

Corporate Housing Amenities

  • Full-size fitness center
  • Resort-style pool and spa
  • Sport courts
  • Business conference rooms
  • Recreation areas
  • Convenient locations
  • Lounge areas
  • Full-size kitchen with utensils and cookware
  • In-unit washer and dryer

Hotel Amenities

  • Standard pool
  • Room service

Service

It can’t be hard to understated how important customer service is when traveling. High-quality assistance from staff when planning a trip can significantly reduce scheduling time, stress, and mistakes. Corporate housing companies are built around extended stay travelers. When you book with a corporate housing company, you know you’ll be receiving the most experienced service.

For long-term business travel, corporate housing is the undeniable superior. With more options, accommodations, and amenities for extended living, it is the go-to option. If you are interested in choosing a corporate housing company for your next stay, contact Stay with CHC today for more information on how we can help you.

Located on its own private lake, The Vintage at South Meadows is one of our many luxury Corporate Comfort communities.

[siteorigin_widget class="WP_Widget_Media_Image"][/siteorigin_widget]

[siteorigin_widget class="WP_Widget_Media_Image"][/siteorigin_widget]

Each unit is fully furnished along with vaulted ceilings and custom fireplaces. Working from home has never been better.

Living in Urban Chic

If you’re someone who is on the go, you may want a smaller place that is more conveniently located near many important destinations. Urban Chic is our line of smaller, inexpensive short-term housing option with an emphasis on convenience and affordability.

Get Where You Need to Go

Our Urban Chic locations are located in the heart of downtown Reno, making them conveniently located near popular places of work for those traveling in cars or using the thorough Downtown bus line.

For nurses and doctors, our Urban Chic locations are only a 4-minute drive from Saint Mary’s Medical Center and an 11-minute drive from Renown Medical Center.

Our locations are also just a short walking distance from all the action downtown. Take part in many of Reno’s downtown events that happen right outside your door, such as food truck Friday, or the art walk. You’ll also be right next to the Truckee River, Idlewild Park and all the fine dining and entertainment downtown Reno has to offer.

Everything You Need In Short Term Housing

All Urban Chic locations are designed to be affordable and convenient, without cutting out the necessities. Each unit is fully furnished with kitchen supplies, TV & couch, dining nook, and appliances. Moving to a new city can be pretty tough, and when you’re bringing your family too, the change can be overwhelming. Figuring out your family corporate stay doesn’t have to be a hassle when you’re staying in a great city. Here’s why relocating to Reno is perfect for you and your family.

[siteorigin_widget class="WP_Widget_Media_Image"][/siteorigin_widget]

Schools

Relocating to a new school is a big shake-up for the whole family. As parents, we want our children to continue to receive a quality education, no matter where they live. And our kids (although they might not say it directly) want to have a great school experience. Luckily in Reno, you don’t have to worry.

A study in 2016 by US News & World Report ranked 28,000 public high schools across the U.S. Fifteen Nevadan schools made the top 10%. Furthermore, two Reno public high schools took the first and second spots as the best schools in all of Nevada. There are plenty of public school options for children of all ages.

Weather

Every kid is a little bundle of energy. As parents, we know the value of being able to let our kids run around outside. Not only is it great exercise, but it also gives us time to ourselves (let’s be honest, we all wouldn’t mind that, right?).

If you’re from California, you might be excited to live in an area with snowy winters. Reno can get quite snowy in the winter. Luckily, the snow never gets too severe to manage. If you want more snow, Tahoe is right in your backyard. In Tahoe, when the winter season kicks in, so does ski season. Take your family up to Tahoe for a day of skiing at popular ski resorts such as Squaw Valley or Heavenly. If skiing and snowboarding aren’t your speed, you can just find a nice hill for some family sledding.

The Reno area averages around 300 days of sunshine! That’s pretty incredible, right? You can take your kids outside all year-round for some great outdoor time. Furthermore, you’ll come to enjoy staying inside with your family on those handful of cloudy days.

Lake Tahoe

The biggest perk of temporary housing in Reno is that you have one of the best vacation spots in the whole western U.S. right in your backyard. Lake Tahoe is home to a full spectrum of activities to spend with your family on your off-days. You and your family can enjoy the crystal blue lake, golden beaches, and panoramic mountain views in any way you’d like, whether it be hiking, swimming, boating, or exploring!

There are also plenty of other hidden lakes and hiking trails throughout Tahoe to find. You and your family will have an endless amount of discoveries to make.

Reno Events

Reno is full of an incredible amount of events and festivals. And while a large amount of Reno events are geared towards adults (you didn’t know you wanted a pirate-themed beer crawl till now, did you?), there are plenty of family-friendly events as well.

The Reno Rodeo, Best in the West Rib Cook-Off, and the Reno Balloon Race are merely a few examples of the vast range of family events Reno hosts every month. My little Nora’s favorite event is the Reno Balloon Race, and you bet she asks about every month when it’s happening.

Don’t move into an unfamiliar place. Learn everything there is to know about family corporate stay in the Reno area!

Bars, casinos, fine dining, theatre, and entertainment all centered around the Truckee River. Even Reno's own baseball team, the Reno Aces, have their stadium located downtown. When you're downtown you won’t be hard-pressed to find something to do.

Downtown also has plenty of metro areas to make getting to and from downtown a breeze.

Sakana Sushi

Sushi is no stranger to Reno. With over twenty sushi restaurants, there are plenty of options to choose from, and plenty of discussion about which of the sushi places to eat in Reno is truly the best. However, one establishment stands out above the rest, Sakana Sushi.

Unassuming on the outside, Sakana Sushi is a much more intimate space than other larger, busier restaurants such as Ijji’s and Oceano. The smaller space provides customers with faster service and higher-quality food.

Sakana’s menu is robust and full of plenty of options for both casuals and sushi lovers alike. Try the Ocean Delivered for a beautiful multicolored California roll topped with tuna, salmon, yellowtail, albacore, shrimp, and seaweed salad. It tastes as good as it looks.

For a roll with a kick, the Sharkbait contains spicy tuna, shredded crab, and avocado, deep-fried for crunch and topped with ponzu and savory unagi sauce.

For any hungry day the all-you-can-eat is the best option. Not only does it include unlimited orders of any roll, but you’ll also have access to their numerous appetizers such as potstickers, tempura, and calamari. If that’s not enough, after a delicious and filling meal your server will offer you a choice of several flavors of homemade ice cream!

Are you taking part in a Reno extended stay? There are many activities that Reno and the surrounding areas have to offer. The historic town of Virginia City is one of our favorites to visit, and has something for practically everyone. Why not take a short trip to what was one of the most affluent cities in Nevada more than 100 years ago?

Here are 5 reasons why we can’t stop going on about Virginia City.

1. Victorian Era Architecture

Whether you chose to go on a guided tour, or just explore the town for yourself, visitors cannot help but stare in awe at the buildings that cover the hillside. A schoolhouse with arching windows, a decadent church, vintage saloons and a breathtaking opera house are just a few of the many wonderful attractions.

2. Foodvirginia city

Oh yes, if you are in the mood for something sweet or savory, the restaurants in Virginia City aim to please. Many of them are located in historical buildings that have been refurbished over the years. Many of these restaurants bring to life the delicious side of vintage life with homemade root beers and candies.

3. Old West Saloons

Saloons offer the perfect time to sit down and relax with a drink while you experience old western history. Attractions such as the world famous Suicide Table enthrall visitors with stories of ghosts and robbers.

4. Events

No matter what time of the year, something wild is always going on in Virginia City. One of our favorites is Christmas on the Comstock. The entire town lights up this time of the year. Father Christmas awaits families at the Visitors Center, and daily events occur at the beautiful Piper’s Opera House. Later on in the year, visitors enjoy the International Camel Races, and the Nevada 150 Masquerade Ball.

5. Museums

There is a museum in nearly every other building on C. Street. Mark Twain spent much of his time in Virginia City, the influence of his experience, seen in many of his writings. Tidbits of his history can be seen in many of the museums around town. The Fourth Ward School is a favorite of many. Built in 1876, the school is almost perfectly preserved on account of a sharp attendance drop off in the early 1900’s.
